Inportant School Information
Thank you for your interest in our school.
You will find us situated in a pleasant position on the edge of Sherwood Forest in the popular village of Edwinstowe. Ours is a small, friendly and successful Church of England Primary School where we believe children can feel safe and happy.
Although our present building dates from 1968, there has been a church school in Edwinstowe since the middle ages and the Victorian Village Hall is one of the former sites.
From our strong foundations within the village and our centuries old history linked to St Mary's Church we value the support of the community.
Of particular importance to us are the quality of our relationships, the strength of our family ethos and the way in which we can play our part in making all members of our school feel valued and special.
At St Mary's we have four classes with an admission limit of fifteen into each full time year group. We also offer twenty two part-time places to Foundation Stage 1. These children can attend mornings or afternoons and join the class of our full time Foundation Stage 2 children. The three remaining classes are made up of Years 1 and 2, Years 3 and 4, and Years 5 and 6, all taught by our staff team of teachers & teaching assistants - parent & grandparent helpers are also very welcome!
Throughout the whole of our school, our teachers and teaching assistants understand that pupils learn best when they are engaged in interesting, practical activities. This skilled team works towards our overarching purpose - that of ensuring that pupils can reach their potential in all aspects of school life. So although we achieve & maintain high academic standards with pupils making good progress throughout, at St. Mary's we also believe that school should equip its pupils with the experience and understanding they need to play their part in a socially just society.
