Autumn Term - Sept 2017 Newsletter

We hope that you and your child are settled into the rhythm of school after a lovely summer break.

We continue to teach our children about the values that underpin our Christian ethos.  These are the things that make us a strong learning community and a caring, loving school family.

We want our children to grow to be 'confident, emotionally resilient and thoughtful individuals'.  This means that as far as a school we work together to support each other-whoever, and to embrace and celebrate individuality.  Alongside, we aim to 'be supported to challenge ourselves and be challenged with confidence that encourages us to be the best that we can be'.

These fundamental principles of St Marys CE School take work and determination from the whole of our school community.  We embed them through ALL of our teaching , the way we treat each other and by showing in our words and actions how important they are in creating somewhere we want to be everyday.

This all takes time - creating and maintaining an ethos doesn't happen overnight and a new school year is a good time for new resolutions and new starts.

We know that sometimes things go wrong… so as ever, if you have any worries or anything you feel you need to check please contact us.  We would far rather have chance for a chat than have worried parents & carers.  We know that if children think you are upset, then they will be upset… and upset children don't learn well!

Hello and welcome to our newbie's, Matthew in Y6 and Alice, Wilfred, Evan, Oliver, Francesca, Dylan, Jensen and Faith in EYFS.  It's lovely to have you join our school family.

We will be holding our 'settling in' sessions on Wednesday 27 September.  This will be a good opportunity for a quick chat with your child's teacher about how the year has started and how we hope to work together to ensure your child makes good progress.

Despite heartfelt pleas in July… term has started with some GIGANTIC school bags.  PLEASE make sure that your child has a PE Kit in a drawstring bag that will hang down a peg and a small reading book-type bag if they need it, our school is far too small for 126 rucksacks + + +

They are also causing a hazard, blocking walkways and tripping us up.  PLEASE!

Can you ensure names are on your child's uniform.  We already have a big of a pile of lost property!

We have a new Violin teacher.  Mrs Naylor-White replaces Mr Wright…

We have some dates, but we are missing Father Tony already (in lots of ways) so do not yet know arrangements for Harvest or Christmas celebrations.

This is so far…

We are looking for additional staff for our flourishing after school club.  Hours are 3.20-5.40pm.  Applicants would need to say what they would plan for the children during this time and how they would involve themselves in any activities.

Breakfast Club & After School Club

As both clubs are flourishing, can you please ensure places are booked beforehand and payments are made promptly to secure your place.

Please do not turn up to breakfast club having not booked as places are limited!

Please contact Mrs Wells to book and make any payments for the current term.

Children in Reception, Y1 & Yr2 all receive a school meal.

Children in Yr 3, 4, 5 & 6 dinners cost £2.29 per day.

Can you ensure monies are in a secure envelope clearly labelled and handed in to the school office.

This can be done on a weekly or termly basis.

School menus are available to view on the school website and on our school notice board.

There will be no tasty tuck until further notice.

Lovely to see faces old and new… Here's to a great Autumn Term together !!!
