What's Been Happening!

So far : Year 6 pupils visited the WWI trench experience at Sherwood Pines Park; Parents have attended "Settling-in" meetings with the class teachers; The School Council have met with the RSPB to discuss the proposed new visitors centre in Sherwood Forest; Class 4 took part in "Go Run 4 Fun"; We have said a very fond farewell to Reverend Louise; Father Tony led our Harvest Service in Church; Governors have completed monitoring visits looking at presentation & handwriting; The school choir have been rehearsing for the Young Voices concert and all their other seasonal performances; The football team have been in action with matches against Forest View, Heatherley and St Josephs;  JAM Club looked at the life of St Luke and Bell  ringers have been practising carols -  Phew!

What's Still to Happen!

Still to come:  KS2 councillors are to visit The Houses of Parliament; The school cross country team are in action at The Dukeries Academy; School nurse confidential drop in session on the 24th November; Class 4 are holding a 'pop-up' restaurant event on the 6th December and a group of KS2 pupils are taking part in the Living Well conference at Southwell Minster.

And as well as all this...It's nearly Christmas!

A big St Marys "Hello & Welcome" to Dylan & Amelia in Class 4 and Jocelyn in Class 2. It's great to have you as part of our school family!

Christmas Appeal 2016: This year's Christmas appeal is supporting our local Food Bank.  When we visited the Food Bank based at Ollerton Methodist Church, the organisers mentioned that over the Christmas period, they would like to be able to hand out extra festive items to the families who use the facility.  This could include some items we all enjoy over the festive season - biscuits, crisps, nuts, chocolates, mince pies or items for children's stockings - selection boxes and chocolate Santa's.  Toiletries also make nice stocking fillers, bubble bath, soap & talc.

We would very much like to support this and ask that this year, instead of filling a shoe box with toys, please fill a gift bag with food, or send a single item for us to make into a gift bag. We will be taking donations to the Food Bank the week commencing the 5th December so if all donations could be in by then it would be greatly appreciated.

SCHOOL NURSE DROP IN  SESSION: Our school nurse, Dianne, will be holding confidential drop in sessions on Thursday  24th November at 8.30am.  Please come along if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's physical and emotional health.  Please use this service, we are very fortunate to be able to offer it to our parents.  Thank you.

School closures due to bad  weather!  Lets hope this doesn't happen too soon!  But, in the event of school having to close due to bad weather, all parents will be texted using the schools Text-Round Service.  In addition to this, please watch the schools website    as this will be updated regularly. You could also tune your radio to either BBC Radio Nottingham on 95.5 or 103.8fm or Radio Mansfield on 103.2fm.

Violins.  Some of you may have noticed that the IMT service have been unable to find St Marys a violin teacher so far this term.  We are still hopeful that this will be resolved, but  unfortunately, we don't know when!

Thank you all for your generosity. So far this month we have supported the Royal British Legions Poppy  Appeal and BBC Children in Need Day.  The money raised has not yet been counted but we will let you know the final figures. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
