What has been happening in school this term?

WORLD BOOK DAY

The children looked wonderful in their fabulous

costumes and wasn't it lovely having Mary Poppins greeting you all in the playground!

lovely books for our children.

PARTAKE THEATRE-Class 3

The children had a fantastic day which including food tasting, looking at artefacts, dressing up in

Roman clothing and looking at the turtle formation which was thoroughly enjoyed by all!  Lots of smiles all round in Class 3

YORKSHIRE WILDLIFE PARK CLASS 1 & 2

The children from both classes had an amazing day getting up close and personal with the polar bears, which coincided with their topic work nicely!

SPORT UPDATE-Mr Wathall

Trampolining

What a fabulous experience our small group of girls had at the recent trampolining after school club at the Dukeries Academy.  Having practised a set of trampolining skills for several weeks  Dana, Amber, Poppy, Abigail and Olivia were at the end of the sessions marked on two disciplines under competition conditions.

A set of level 2 or 3 skills were  performed in turn and marked on technique and style and then a planned routine of 5 or 7 different actions performed one after the other, again being marked on the same criteria.

All of the girls performed fantastically well and gained knowledge and improved hugely in the art of trampolining, all thoroughly enjoying the experience.

Football

St Mary's v Walesby

A great game played in a wonderful spirit saw us come out on top beating a young, very well organised Walesby side 4-1.

Our goals came from Alex 3 (his first hat-trick ) and Max 1

St Mary's v Farmilo

This was the game of the season so far.  Both started well and both keepers had to be at the top of their game.  The visitors took the points in this thrilling game, winning 5-2 with our goals coming from Vinny and Max.

Handball

Congratulations to our handball team who won the recent  Newark & Sherwood tournament and qualified for the County Finals to be held in April.

A fabulous team effort being unbeaten throughout the tournament, with notable performances from top scorers Max and Vinny and goalkeeper Dana who never conceded a goal in any of the games.

Cross Country

Well done to all the children who took part in the Mansfield Harriers Cross Country Competition.  A total of 190 children from 19 schools across the area took part and our children were a real credit to our school.  Alex, Isaac, Joshua and Charley ran great races. Anahera, Phoebe, Freddie, Oliver and Tom were all competing against children 3 years older and did remarkably well. See the board for full results!
