March 2018

What has been happening in school this term?

The children looked wonderful in their fabulous

costumes and wasn't it lovely having Mary Poppins greeting you all in the playground!

Thank you to parents for supporting this event.

A BIG thank you as well for the fantastic book sales that has enabled us, as a school, to choose some

lovely books for our children.

The children had a fantastic day which including food tasting, looking at artefacts, dressing up in

Roman clothing and looking at the turtle formation which was thoroughly enjoyed by all!  Lots of smiles all round in Class 3

The children from both classes had an amazing day getting up close and personal with the polar bears, which coincided with their topic work nicely!

The Fire Service have been talking to children in Classes 2, 3 & 4 about safety; talk to your child about what they have learnt from this.

PE days after half term will be on the following days, please

ensure children have their PE kit in school on these days.

Class 1-Monday & Friday

Class 2-Thursday & Friday

Class 3-Monday & Wednesday

Class 4-Tuesday & Wednesday

  • If your child is absent from school, please contact the school office

before the close of registers at 9.15am.

  • If your child is absent due to sickness or diarrhoea, the recommended period to be kept away from school is 48 hours since the last episode
  • Dogs are not allowed anywhere in the school site.  This NCC rule includes the drive, the path and definitely the playground.

Thank you for your co-operation with this.

Breakfast Club & After School Club

As both clubs are flourishing, can you please ensure places are booked beforehand and payments are made promptly to secure your place as we would hate to disappoint parents if we are unable to provide the childcare on the day. All bookings need to have a completed booking form too please.  Please ensure your child/ren are collected promptly.

Please remember the dedicated phone number when collecting your child/ren 07483 102617 - everyone collecting your child/ren will need this number.

Please do not turn up to breakfast club having not booked as places are limited!

Please contact Mrs Wells to book and make any payments for the current term.

Do you have unwanted board games etc. that you need to rehome? If so we are looking for donations for our after school club / wet break etc.…

Please bring into the school office if you have any you no longer use.

Many thanks

What a fabulous experience our small group of girls had at the recent trampolining after school club at the Dukeries Academy.  Having practised a set of trampolining skills for several weeks  Dana, Amber, Poppy, Abigail and Olivia were at the end of the sessions marked on two disciplines under competition conditions.

A set of level 2 or 3 skills were  performed in turn and marked on technique and style and then a planned routine of 5 or 7 different actions performed one after the other, again being marked on the same criteria.

All of the girls performed fantastically well and gained knowledge and improved hugely in the art of trampolining, all thoroughly enjoying the experience.

St Mary's v Walesby

A great game played in a wonderful spirit saw us come out on top beating a young, very well organised Walesby side 4-1.

Our goals came from Alex 3 (his first hat-trick ) and Max 1

St Mary's v Farmilo

This was the game of the season so far.  Both started well and both keepers had to be at the top of their game.  The visitors took the points in this thrilling game, winning 5-2 with our goals coming from Vinny and Max.

Congratulations to our handball team who won the recent  Newark & Sherwood tournament and qualified for the County Finals to be held in April.

A fabulous team effort being unbeaten throughout the tournament, with notable performances from top scorers Max and Vinny and goalkeeper Dana who never conceded a goal in any of the games.

Cross Country

Well done to all the children who took part in the Mansfield Harriers Cross Country Competition.  A total of 190 children from 19 schools across the area took part and our children were a real credit to our school.  Alex, Isaac, Joshua and Charley ran great races. Anahera, Phoebe, Freddie, Oliver and Tom were all competing against children 3 years older and did remarkably well. See the board for full results!
